Spin-Off Results in much Blue and Red

Issue: Spring 2008

We're excited to be part of the growing alpaca industry. Each new season brings new opportunities to refine breeding goals and evaluate our progress. Spin-Off competitions are one of many feedback methods we use here at Stonyridge to guide our breeding direction. This year the spring shows are wrapped up, and we are thrilled with the results.

We chose several Spin-Off's to showcase our core breeding girls & boys. They didn't dissapoint. Out of 22 entries in five different competions, the stonyridge kids ribboned in over 80%, with 8 first's and 3 seconds, for over 50% either blue or red! Most importantly those are fleeces from pregnant & lactating dams and breeding studs. We love that they are maintaining those baby fine fleece qualities.

Stonyridge Kids in the Spotlight with Blue, Red & Purple our Favorite Color

The halter shows validate our "full package" goals. Four shows in almost as many weeks was grueling but the show kids were real troopers. When we turned them out into their pasture after that last show there was much celebration on the part of the pacas, and pride on our part at their final results.

Stonyridge Cadence was the consistant star with a hard won 4th at AlpacaPalooza, 2nd at AWE, and 1st at both PNAA and HOTV. Stonyridge Roxie Hart was 5th and 6th respectively at the level V AlpacaPalooza and AWE shows, and really stood out at the Heart of the Valley with a 2nd and Reserve Brown Color Champion. Stonyridge Penuche didn't make it to the two earliest shows, but placed 6th out 12 at PNAA and 3rd out of 7 at Heart of the Valley in the highly competitive medium fawn class. Richter brought home a 1st from PNAA
